Warning: The originals photos, texts, films, music, etc ... of the period previous to 1921 year - see the Act of the US Congress about it - have no copyright and belong to the public domain. However, those same pictures, I process this blog, when I restore and paint the pictures, then the right of modification is produced, ie that are protected by full copyright law, in this case mine. Of course there are many more laws in the world, declared in the public domain photographs (which is the topic at hand), in very later dates to the aforementioned (Example: WWII, Korea, etc ...).

The Zouaves with a 8-mm. Saint Étienne Machine Gun Model 1907. Northern France, 1914.
Note:
This photo and others like it, taken during maneuvers immediately preceding the outbreak of war, were reproduced in graphs magazines and postcards to illustrate the first battles of August 1914.
For this reason, maybe the photograph I have colored above corresponds to one of the mentioned maneuvers. In any case, my purpose remains valid when publishing this photograph: reflect the exoticism of the Zouaves uniforms.

French Renault Armored Car (Auto-Mitrailleuse Blindée Renault) Model 1915. November 1915, Lorraine.
Renault Armored
Car (M.G.
Type) Model 1915, with the crew of
French Navy sailors. November 1915, Lorraine.
By the vehicle identification numbering ZM 53, we can deduce that, probably, is the 2nd vehicle of the 1st Section, belonging to 1st Platoon of the 15th Group of Auto-Machine-Guns -Cannons of the Navy (Groupe d'Auto-Mitrailleuses-Canons de la Marine-GAMC).
Notice that the lateral lighting lamp has been painted gray like the rest of the vehicle. In the rear of the vehicle, centered on the armored plate, again appeared the vehicle identification number ZM 53.

When color photography have
warned that the color of the
numbers and letters in the vehicle, were probably painted
in red. Because the dark gray that would be the alternative,
when not owning the black
intensity, hardly would contrast with the gray background, so it reinforces
the theory of numbers in red.

Auto-Ametralladora Blindada Renault
